Reporter - Calgary, Canada

Accountability Profile – Junior Reporter

Position Summary-Calgary Location

As a junior reporter, you will lend your strong interviewing skills, effective researching capabilities as well as your ability to present facts and opinions in a clear, concise, logical and coherent manner to your target audience.

This position is entry-level and would be ideal for a graduate with a diploma or degree in Broadcast Journalism or Communications and about 2 years experience. You will be working for a growing, dynamic and progressive company located in one of our numerous broadcast cities in North America. This position is full-time contract and is 3 months in duration with the possibility of going permanent.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Research, report, write, and voice various stories as needed for the program.
  • Assist in arranging and conducting interviews.
  • Coordinating with editorial, production and post-production departments in compiling segments into shows.
  • Provide creative input into the look and feel of the show
  • Assisting producers in writing intros, other script and online materials.
  • Creating on-camera intros for stories.
  • Contribute strong story ideas.
  • Develop and maintain business contacts for interviews and information.

Competencies and Skill Set:

  • An interest in current events and trends in the business sector.
  • Must be willing to take initiative, be persistent, resourceful, objective, reliable, and creative.
  • Should have the physical and emotional stamina required to cope with the pressures of their competitive, fast-paced jobs.
  • The ability to remain composed and poised while on camera is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • The ability to work well under pressure with multiple tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with effective organizational skills.

Requirements:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism or Communications is required.
  • At least two years media experience (television broadcast news and on-camera) required.

Especial Events Coordinator - Calgary - Alberta

 

 

Looking for Special Events Coordinator
LOCATION: Calgary
Position Summary
 
Chandran Media is Canada’s leading and innovative marketing and broadcast company out of Calgary, AB. Due to the growth and expansion in the number of events that Chandran Media will participate in, our organization is currently looking for great talent that will be key to the development of our events. As a Special Events Coordinator you will support and coordinate special events including trade shows, conferences, speaker series, tournaments, awards shows, etc. You will be working with sales, marketing, business development, and creative departments as well as with broadcast show producers.
 
This position is part-time with a probationary period of 3 months in duration with the possibility of becoming permanent as well as possibly becoming full time in the future.
 
Responsibilities:
 
·         Coordinate and execute events in an efficient and effective manner
·         Create event displays
·         Educate event attendees about Chandran Media and its various product and service offerings and properties
·         Cultivate strong relationships with event partners to ensure ongoing successful relationships
·         Assist with trouble shooting challenges encountered with event logistics
 
Competencies necessary to perform the job:
 
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Office
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proven event coordination experience and ability
  • Passionate about event planning and execution
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong self discipline and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Team player
  • Must be able to work evenings; must be available to work weekends when required
  • Must be able to travel
 
Training/Designations:
·         Preferably candidates who have completed post secondary education in a related field
·         At least 2 years experience required
