Reporter - Calgary, Canada
Accountability Profile – Junior Reporter
Position Summary-Calgary Location
As a junior reporter, you will lend your strong interviewing skills, effective researching capabilities as well as your ability to present facts and opinions in a clear, concise, logical and coherent manner to your target audience.
This position is entry-level and would be ideal for a graduate with a diploma or degree in Broadcast Journalism or Communications and about 2 years experience. You will be working for a growing, dynamic and progressive company located in one of our numerous broadcast cities in
Specific Accountabilities:
- Research, report, write, and voice various stories as needed for the program.
- Assist in arranging and conducting interviews.
- Coordinating with editorial, production and post-production departments in compiling segments into shows.
- Provide creative input into the look and feel of the show
- Assisting producers in writing intros, other script and online materials.
- Creating on-camera intros for stories.
- Contribute strong story ideas.
- Develop and maintain business contacts for interviews and information.
Competencies and Skill Set:
- An interest in current events and trends in the business sector.
- Must be willing to take initiative, be persistent, resourceful, objective, reliable, and creative.
- Should have the physical and emotional stamina required to cope with the pressures of their competitive, fast-paced jobs.
- The ability to remain composed and poised while on camera is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- The ability to work well under pressure with multiple tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with effective organizational skills.
Requirements:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism or Communications is required.
- At least two years media experience (television broadcast news and on-camera) required.
